Defender suffers hairline fracture to foot

NATHAN CLARKE is facing a further four to five weeks on the sidelines after a scan revealed the O's skipper has suffered a hairline fracture to his foot.

Clarke picked up the injury in the 3-2 victory at Portsmouth in November and initially looked set for a swift return, but the injury was slightly worse than first thought and he will now miss the Christmas period.

He was joined on the injury list last weekend by Michael Symes, whose second half substitute appearance was cut short after just 17 minutes when he picked up a hamstring problem.
