Orient striker David Mooney has signed a new two-year contract with the Club.

Irishman Mooney joined the O’s at the start of the 2011-12 and has scored 21 goals for the Club since. Last season was his most prolific since moving to E10 from Reading as he bagged 13 goals in all competitions including a spell of ten in 12 games between November and January.

Orient manager Russell Slade was delighted to get the forward signed up for another two years and said: “Mooney enjoyed his best season with us last year and scored some really important goals. If he hadn’t got injured towards the end of the year I’m sure he would have scored a few more too.

“It’s great to get him tied down with a new contract as for the way we play he fits perfectly into the make-up of the team.”

Mooney has also been an important figure off the field during his time at the Matchroom as he was awarded the Community Player of the Year Award in 2012 and was given an Outstanding Achievement Award for his work with St Joseph’s hospice in Hackney earlier this year.

Stay tuned to Orient Player on Monday as we'll have an interview with Mooney upon his return to pre-season training.
