STEPHEN PURCHES' early goal ended Orient's three-month wait for a home win as they ciaimed a vital victory over fellow relegation battlers Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

Seven home games had been and gone since the O's last tasted success in E10, but Purches struck with 10 minutes on the clock to put that run to bed.

Crewe had chances in an open game, and only a linesman's flag prevented Tom Pope from levelling before the break. But Orient needed the points and they dug in to get them - a result that takes them out of the bottom four.
