Leyton Orient 0 - 1 Southend United
Puma Youth Alliance South East Conference

ORIENT'S youth team fell to a battling 1-0 defeat to local rivals Southend United on Monday morning.

Wayne Burnett's side included five schoolboys and just one second year scholar and despite fighting hard, Southend proved just too strong for them.

In difficult conditions, Orient got to the break with the score at 0-0, but they weren't able to cling on to their point after the interval with the Shrimpers claiming a second half winner.

The O's fashioned a couple of chances, but Southend were the better side and deserved their success.

Burnett said: "It was a valiant effort, but Southend were a strong side and merited their victory.

"We had a young team out and I'm proud of my players but it was a fair result."

Orient: Jack Giddens; Callum Compton (Anthony Nwachukwu 46), Josh Millwood, Alan Mabuyaku, Musa Manneh (Falola Fahinty 71); Jake Argent, Charlie Hunter, Matt Hall, Michael Richardson; Louis Crowther, Chris Benjamin
