MARTIN LING was pleased with his team's professionalism after they advanced to the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy with a 1-0 win at Notts County on Monday night.

Efe Echanomi struck just before half-time to send Orient through, and Ling felt the O's could have won more comfortably

He said: "We knew that we'd be coming here with less than 1,000 people in the ground and very little atmosphere, but you've got to put it in your minds that you could end up with a Wembley final against Leeds.

"We shuffled the pack a little bit and the players who came in did well.

"It's nice to see Efe get on the scoresheet for the first time since his injury. After the Cardiff game I thought his hold up play could have been better over the 90 minutes, but it was a lot, lot better tonight.

"We want to see if we can get some 90 minute performances out of him this season and tonight was encouraging.

"Sean Thornton had a decent game and hit the bar twice. Tam also hit the bar, so it could have been a lot more comfortable.

"We had to call on Glenn Morris in the last minute and we should have put it to bed, but I'm a happy manager having come here and secured our place in the next round."

Sam Oji made his O's debut and Ling was also happy with the on-loan defender's contribution.

He continued: "I thought Sam looked a little nervous early on, but he improved as the game went on and had a decent debut. He attacked the ball in his channel in the second half and helped us to another clean sheet."
