ORIENT boss Martin Ling was frustrated that Orient failed to back up their win at Luton with another three-point haul against Nottingham Forest.
The O's have been waiting five months to record back-to-back victories and that wait will go on after Junior Agogo gave Forest all three points.
He said: "We said that we needed to back up last week's win at Luton with a win today and we haven't managed to do that. It was a game where defenders were on top, and we lost it to a scruffy goal.
"It was a game of few chances, but they had the better ones. Jason Demetriou had one for us in the first half and their defender turned one onto his own post, but that's the sum of our chances.
"That's not good enough, but credit has to go to Forest too, because they were solid defensively and were hard to break down.
"I do think that we gave a good display defensively though, they didn't cut us open and the three young lads at the back stood up to the test. They'll be disappointed not to have kept a clean sheet.
"Stuart [Nelson] made some good saves previous to the goal, but he'll be the first to say he should have done better with the shot.
"If you make a mistake as an outfield player, you can get away with it, but a mistake in goal costs your team. That's the life of a goalkeeper. It looked like he was having a good game, but all that will be remembered now is the goal."
Ling is struggling to explain Orient's lack of consistency, but he does know that needs to change if Orient are to keep their play-off dream alive.
He added: "I can't put my finger on what the reason [for the long run without consecutive victories] is. We seem to get confidence from victories but not build on them.
"We need to put back-to-back victories together if we are to have any hope of the play-offs. There are 12 games to go and we're going to have to win a nucleus of those.
"There's no hiding place and we need to find some consistency."
