Swindon Town 0 - 1 Leyton Orient
Coca-Cola League One
ORIENT'S incredible form under Geraint Williams continued on Easter Monday with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Swindon Town.
Jason Demetriou's early strike proved enough for a resolute O's side, who recorded their sixth win from their last eight matches.
Swindon pressed hard in search of a leveller - and were denied by the woodwork twice - but no side in League One has conceded fewer goals on their travels than the O's, and that solidity was again in evidence in Wiltshire.
Orient got off to a dream start, establishing a lead within three minutes through the boot of Demetriou. Paul Terry got the move started, lofting a ball through to Wayne Gray in the left channel. Gray ran towards the box before laying off for Demetriou, who lashed a superb right-footed effort beyond Phil Smith and into the top corner.
Swindon looked to hit back and Simon Cox headed Anthony McNamee's cross wide at the far post with seven minutes on the clock.
Five minutes later, Gordon Greer met McNamee's corner at the near post, but couldn't direct his header on target.
At the other end, Sean Thornton shot straight at Robins stopper Smith after beating Jerel Ifil in the left hand corner of the penalty area as the game began in lively fashion.
Jamie Jones then had to make his first stop, diving to the left to turn Owain Tudur-Jones' well-struck free kick over the top with 16 minutes on the clock, and Jones was in action again shortly afterwards, gathering Billy Paynter's angled effort at the second attempt.
Paynter's low curler was gathered by Jones as the interval neared and Swindon could count themselves unfortunate to have ended the opening period behind.
Their sense of misfortune grew eight minutes after the break when Paynter got up above Stephen Purches and powered a header against the O's crossbar following Hal Robson-Kanu's excellent run and cross.
Orient made a couple of changes in a bid to stamp some authority of their own on the contest, and one of the substitutes, Jimmy Smith, shot over the top on the hour after the Swindon defence backed off.
Orient looked to have got the measure of their hosts and Charlie Daniels forced a save from Smith with a low, long-range drive on 73.
However, Cox so nearly grabbed a leveller 13 minutes from time when he got the better of Jordan Spence and collected the return pass from Paynter before sending in a low shot that struck the base of the near post and cannoned behind off Jones for a corner.
Jones saved from Paynter and Daniels produced a brilliant last-ditch block to deny Tudur-Jones as Swindon applied the late pressure, but Orient held firm to register their ninth away win of the season.
