ORIENT manager Martin Ling admitted that Tottenham had just a little too much class for his team on Wednesday night, but he nevertheless took many positives from the performance.

Adam Boyd was on the scoresheet against Premiership opposition for the second week in succession and Ling was happy with the contribution of his forwards.

He said: "It was pleasing to see Adam get his head to Jason Demetriou's cross and scoring two goals against that kind of opposition will do his confidence the world of good.

"For us to be successful forwards are going to have to score goals, and I feel that the four we have up there have goals in them.

"Wayne Gray's got three already in pre-season, Boydy's scored a couple, as has Efe and Jabo's got one as well - and it's nice for them to be getting amongst the goals."

Ling was also happy with the way his team kept battling and showed good heart in chasing possession,

He continued: "We knew it would be a tough night for us as soon as we looked at their teamsheet.  I think we handled it OK for an hour, but we had to do a lot of chasing of the ball and there was a 15 minute spell when they took the game away from us.

"They had a lot of possession, but our two banks of four covered the gaps well. It is tiring mentally as well as physically to chase the ball as we had to, and when we did win it back I felt we gave it away too cheaply

"That said, we did defend well as a unit, and we were happy coming in at 1-1 at half time.

"All in all, I was pleased with the performance but Tottenham were that little bit too strong for us."
