Corden Free Kick Seals Victory
Millwall 0 - 1 Leyton Orient
Pontin's Holidays Combination Central Division
WAYNE CORDEN scored a terrific free-kick as Orient's reserves secured a deserved 1-0 victory over their Millwall counterparts on Tuesday afternoon.
Corden struck the only goal with 58 minutes on the clock as Dean Smith's side shrugged off the disappointment of last week's defeat to Aldershot.
Orient controlled large periods of the contest, played on a freezing afternoon at The Den.
Fielding a blend of youth and experience, the O's twice spurned one-on-one opportunities before the break through strikers Efe Echanomi and Raphael Sylvester.
Andy Barcham was forced off at half-time after taking a knock on the ankle, but Orient pushed on after the break and took the lead when Corden converted from 20 yards following a foul on Echanomi by Ross Gaynor.
Stuart Nelson, making his first appearance since suffering an ankle injury, saved from Sam Higgins as Millwall looked to get back into it, but Orient continued to look the more dangerous and twice wasted chances to seal the points.
First, Sylvester headed wide from close range, and then Bradley Gray hit the defender on the line after Solomon Shields and Sylvester had combined to set up the chance.
