Nelson - It's A Good Point
STUART NELSON was pleased with the way Orient responded to last Friday's setback at Northampton with a solid display against Walsall.
The O's kept the Saddlers at arm's length, despite the home side applying the pressure and Nelson was delighted with a clean sheet.
He said: "It was a solid performance and it was good to add another clean sheet to the tally.
"If you pick up points away and win at home you will go a long way, and on Tuesday we went to a team who have gone unbeaten for a long time, so it's a good point.
"The chance right at the end was the most difficult one for me because it actually came off Adam Chambers and changed direction, but everything else was pretty comfortable.
"Credit goes to the boys in front of me to restricting them to that, and it was important for us to get a result here, especially after Friday's result.
"That wasn't good enough and I'd like to apologise on behalf of the team to the fans for that performance because they came a long way on a Friday night to watch that.
"We owed them a performance and I'm pleased that the supporters were half rewarded with a solid display on Tuesday.
"It's a little disappointing that we couldn't get that goal, but it's good for me and the team to keep a clean sheet against an in-form team."
Nelson has responded well to being dropped from the team in November, and Tuesday's clean sheet was his fourth since being recalled.
He added: "I felt that I let people down with the way I fell away before I got left out, and maybe you could say that was a kick up the backside for me.
"I've come back and I'm keen not to lose my place again. Clean sheets go a long way towards that."
