Late Wycombe Strike Pegs O's Back
Wycombe Wanderers 1 - 1 Leyton Orient
Pontin's Holidays Combination Central Division
ORIENT'S reserves were denied all three points by a late Daniel Fitchett goal at Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday afternoon.
The O's looked on course for victory when Efe Echanomi scored during a good period for the O's in the second half.
But they were unable to see out time and Wycombe's late blow ensured the points would be shared.
It was an opening period of few chances, but Wycombe's George Daly should have given the home side a 16th minute lead when Chris Robson's mistake presented him with a clear run on goal.
O's stopper Stuart Nelson came out to close down the angles and Daly could only scuff his shot wide.
Wycombe wingers Rob Rice and Derek Duncan both cut in from their flanks and shot straight at Nelson as Wycombe enjoyed the better of the opening half hour.
But Orient came back into it as the half wore on and Jabo Ibehre was given a good chance three minutes before the interval when he beat the offside trap to collect Tom Kemp's lofted through ball. He poked past home stopper Jamie Young, but the angle was against the O's man and the ball rolled away from danger.
The O's began the second period similarly strongly and Ibehre almost gave them the lead on 49 when he got in behind the Wycombe backline, but Young was able to collect his attempted lob.
With 64 minutes on the clock, Orient moved into the lead. Echanomi took advantage of a mix-up in the home defence to collect Brandon Martin's hooked ball forward and prod home.
Orient looked comfortable in their lead, but Wycombe started to threaten again in the last ten minutes and Nelson scrambled across his goal well to save Calum Botham's 86th minute header.
But four minutes later, he was powerless to prevent Fitchett from levelling after he latched onto Scott Shulton's through ball.
