ORIENT boss Martin Ling has revealed that he hopes to make Northampton Town striker Adebayo Akinfenwa his first summer signing when he returns from holiday next week.
Akinfewna is out of contract at the Sixfields Stadium, and although he has been offered a new contract by the Cobblers, Ling is hopeful of bringing the former Swansea man to Brisbane Road.
East Londoner Adebayo played two games for the O's in a brief spell during the 2003/04 season, and he has since gone on to score goals regularly for Torquay, Swansea and Northampton.
He bagged seven goals in 15 games for the Cobblers at the back end of last season and Ling is determined to add the forward to his squad.
Ling said: "I've had meetings with the player and his representatives that have gone very well and I hope to get a deal concluded when I'm back in the country."
The O's boss also confirmed that he has held initial talks with defender Danny Granville, who was recently released by Colchester United.
Granville, who played in the Premier League for Chelsea, Leeds United, Manchester City and Crystal Palace, and has a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup medal to his name, can operate at left back or centre half - positions Ling is looking to fill for next season.
Ling said: "We've had initial talks with Danny, and we will be following that up when both parties are back in the country."
