JAMIE JONES insists he is ready to push Glenn Morris all the way for the number one goalkeeper's role at Brisbane Road.

19-year-old Jones joined Orient on a two-year contract this week following his release by Premier League Everton and he is looking forward to making an impression at his new club.

"It's brilliant to have signed for Orient," he said. "It is a new challenge for me and I'm really looking forward to it.

"This is a good club and I can't wait to start training with the lads and gaining some experience.

"I feel that I'm ready for first team football and I'm looking forward to challenging with Glenn Morris for the starting place.

"Hopefully I'll push Glenn and he will push me and I'll be able to claim that spot."

Jones, who was with the Goodison Park club for 12 years, believes he can use what he learned from working with the Toffees' top-level stoppers to good effect in E10.

"The chance of being more involved at first team level is something that excites me.  I wasn't getting that at Everton - at that level managers play more experienced players," he continued.

"Maybe you have to drop down to go back up again and hopefully we can achieve that here at Orient.

"Last year, working with the likes of Tim Howard, Stefan Wessels and Chris Woods was unbelievable, the best learning year I've ever had.

"Hopefully I can take what I learned from them on to this club and be the best I can."
