Leyton Orient 1 - 5 Tottenham Hotspur
Pre-Season Friendly
DARREN BENT scored his second hat-trick in three days as Tottenham crushed Orient with a second half blitz on Wednesday night.
The O's were good value for their interval lead, gained through Jason Demetriou's fourth minute cracker, but Spurs turned on the style after the break and ran riot.
Bent, Aaron Lennon and Luka Modric all scored within seven minutes of the restart, while Bent completed his treble later on in the half.
Orient got off to a dream start, establishing a lead within four minutes in sublime style.
Modric was guilty of getting caught in possession by Ryan Jarvis, and the O's striker fed the ball to Demetriou, who sized up his options before curling an unstoppable effort beyond keeper Oscar Jansson and into the top corner.
Demetriou did his bit at the other end seven minutes later, clearing off the line from Tom Huddlestone after the Spurs midfielder got in front of his man to meet Gareth Bale's corner.
Orient's bright start was marred, however, by an injury to Simon Dawkins, who had to be stretchered off after 18 minutes.
With 32 minutes on the clock, Orient carved out a great opportunity to double their lead when Demetriou's reverse ball picked out Tamika Mkandawire, but the O's defender took too long over the shot and Michael Dawson got back to block.
Spurs had barely threatened, but three minutes before the break Glenn Morris had to race off his line to deny Darren Bent after Aaron Lennon's through ball carved open the O's defence.
Tottenham were level within 50 seconds of the restart, Bent tucking home from close range after Morris parried Dawson's near post header.
And just two minutes later the visitors punished Orient again when Didier Zokora got in down the right and stood up an inviting cross for Lennon to place a header into the top corner.
Tottenham's power had come to the fore and Lennon turned provider on 52, sending a ball to the far post for Modric to plant into the top corner, with the help of a deflection off Brian Saah.
Spurs were threatening to run riot and Morris had to make good saves from Giovani dos Santos and Modric in quick succession,
Jermaine Jenas then sent a brilliantly-executed scissor kick volley inches over bar, but the visitors didn't have to wait long for their fourth, with Bent beating the offisde trap to round Morris and finish from a tight angle on 59.
The lively Giovani was impressive in attack for the visitors and he nearly claimed a goal for himself 16 minutes from the end but shot in to the side netting.
Three minutes later the Mexican was involved again, setting up the chance for Bent's hat-trick.
The Spurs striker needed no invitation to take it, smashing home via the crossbar from 12 yards.
Spurs keeper Oscar Jansson was forced into a rare save when he tipped Loick Pires' rasping drive from range over the top.
Normal service was soon resumed and Morris had to scramble across his goal to save Jamie O'Hara's deflected effort 10 minutes from time.
