Leyton Orient 0 - 4 Watford
Football Combination Eastern Division

THE RESERVES' Combination campaign got off to a losing start on Tuesday when Watford smashed four goals without reply at Brisbane Road.

Two goals from Lewis Young, added to Liam Henderson and John-Joe O'Toole strikes took the game away from the O's, who named six professionals in their starting line-up.

There were useful 90 minute run outs for the likes of Alton Thelwell, Andrew Cave-Brown and Aiden Palmer, but their presence couldn't help their side achieve a positive result.

O's assistant manager Dean Smith said: "It was a disappointing result, and although I didn't think it was a 4-0 performance, Watford were better than us in both boxes.

"It was also good to see Alton Thelwell get 90 minutes under his belt."

Orient got off to a nightmare start, falling behind with just three minutes on the clock. Chris Robson was penalised for a handball offence on the edge of the box and Young made full use of the opportunity, beating Jamie Jones with his free kick.

Watford's Lionel Ainsworth was a constant thorn in Orient's side during the first half and he came close to doubling the lead on eight minutes, only for Jones to save with his legs at the near post.

Orient came more into the contest around the midway point of the first half and Simon Dawkins forced a good save from Richard Lee after running forcefully at the Hornets defence on 22.

Bradley Gray also sent a chip just over the crossbar after spotting Lee off his line, but it was Watford who were to strike next, Henderson curling a super right-footed shot beyond Jones and into the bottom corner eight minutes before the break.

Watford began the second period as they did the first and O'Toole made it three with 50 minutes on the clock, converting from close range after Jones touched Billy Gibson's header onto the bar.

At the other end Gray nodded Aiden Palmer's cross off target, while sub Adam Marsh rifled a shot just wide, but the Hornets were always in control and Young completed the scoring 13 minutes from time, thumping home from 20 yards after Orient failed to clear their lines.
