Door Not Closed For Thornton

Posted on: Tue 26 Aug 2008

ORIENT manager Martin Ling has urged midfielder Sean Thornton to fight for his place after leaving him out of the squad for Saturday's draw with Carlisle United.

The O's boss insists that the door is not closed on the Irishman's O's career, but he does say that his attitude needs to improve.

"Sean was not considered for the 16 on Saturday because he is not fulfilling his potential at the moment," said Ling.

"There is undoubtedly a talent there, but it only shows its head now and again and I feel that Sean needs a wake-up call.

"He will be playing for the reserves today and I hope we get a good reaction from him to that.

"He is under contract here until June next year and he will be considered for selection if needed, but if it happens that he needs to leave the football club in order to find his niche then that will also be taken into consideration."
