Reserves Come Up Short At Posh
Peterborough United 4 - 0 Leyton Orient
The Football Combination Eastern Division
ORIENT'S reserves fell to a heavy 4-0 defeat at Peterborough United on Tuesday afternoon.
Two penalties from Scott Rendell, added to a Liam Hatch strike and a Chris Robson own goal gave Orient their second miserable trip to London Road in as many weeks - the first team also lost there two Saturdays ago.
The O's got off to a nightmare start and fell behind early on when Robson knocked the ball into his own net from a corner.
Peterborough had extended the lead to 3-0 before the break, with Rendell converting his first penalty before Hatch cut in from the right to finish.
Rendell scored his second penalty on the hour following a Solomon Shields handball and assistant manager Dean Smith was disappointed with the performance.
"The performance wasn't up to the standards we require and the players have been told that," he said.
"It's disappointing, but we have to learn from the experience and the scholars know they need to improve if they want to become members of the first team squad."
