Reserves Crash To Colchester Defeat
Leyton Orient 0 - 3 Colchester United
The Football Combination Eastern Division
ORIENT'S reserves were condemned to a 3-0 defeat by Colchester United on Tuesday afternoon.
The O's were put to the sword by a more experienced U's side, who cantered to victory thanks to two goals from Sunday Wasiu, added to David Perkins' strike.
Loick Pires and Bradley Gray both forced saves from away keeper Mark Cousins, but there was no way through for Orient, who slipped to their third loss in four games.
However, it was the home side who created the first chance of the afternoon, Pires nodding wide from Portuguese trialist Jose Pedro Rodrigues Alves' delivery.
But with six minutes on the clock, the ball broke for Perkins on the edge of the box to curl a shot beyond the reach of Jamie Jones and into the far corner.
Two minutes later Adam Marsh came close to hitting back, but Cousins got down well to tip his low effort around the post.
Cousins did well again to save Pires' fiercely-struck effort on 21 following Rodrigues Alves' lay off, while at the other end Medy Elito dragged a shot wide of the near post after cutting in off the left flank.
Colchester doubled their advantage with 22 minutes on the clock when Elito's through ball cut out Patrick O'Donnell, giving Wasiu a clear sight of goal. Jones stood up well to block his first effort, but the ball fell back to the U's striker who converted at the second time of asking.
Four minutes later the game was over as a contest when Waisu thumped a super shot into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Orient put up more of a fight after the break and almost forced a consolation midway through the half when Marsh's corner was deflected on to a post, but Colchester had done enough for a handsome victory and they took the points back to Essex.
