SIMON DAWKINS scored for the reserves but it was not enough to prevent them from falling to a 2-1 defeat against Wycombe Wanderers at Brisbane Road on Tuesday.
Dawkins scored with just three minutes on the clock and the O's kept Wycombe on the back foot for the first 20 minutes.
But Wycombe then found their feet and deservedly took the points thanks to goals from Magno Vieira and Robbie Rice.
Assistant manager Dean Smith said: "It was a disappointing result and performance. We controlled possession but Wycombe had the better chances.
"We didn't work their goalkeeper enough and we didn't deserve anything from the game."
Orient got off to a flier and Matt Hall almost gave them the lead in the very first minute, but his deflected drive was well saved by visiting keeper Jamie Jones.
Two minutes later Dawkins did find a way past Young when he finished at the second attempt after being sent clear in the left channel.
With seven minutes on the clock, Dawkins raced clear again, but Young was sharply off his line to deny the O's striker.
That was as good as it got for the hosts as Wycombe settled and began to pressurise the O's after the 20 minute mark.
Jamie Jones did well to save from Vieira, and he was on good form again to deny Nathan Ashton after he was set up by Vieira.
Wycombe didn't have to wait long for their equaliser though, with Vieira forcing home from close range on 27 after Jones saved Jake Hyde's header.
The visitors were now well in control and they moved into the lead 40 seconds after the break when Ashton got in down the left to cross low. Jones got down to block Hyde's effort, but Rice was on hand to finish from close range.
Vieira lifted the ball over the bar from six yards as Wycombe searched for a third and Hyde came close to a goal again, only for Jones to keep him out with a strong left hand.
Adam Marsh shot well wide for the O's, while sub Jake Argent, who came on for Musa Manneh - only starting due to Dean Morgan's switch to the evening game against St Albans - sent a shot just over.
