ORIENT'S reserves edged a seven-goal thriller against Peterborough United to record just their second Combination victory of the season on Wednesday afternoon.
In a game switched to Peterborough's training ground, Orient led 4-1 at the break but had to hold off a strong Posh comeback in the second half to earn all three points.
Assistant manager Dean Smith said: "It was a good performance and the young players will benefit from the game, because they'd had no competitive football for five or six weeks
"It's also nice to get a reserve win under our belts because we haven't had enough of those this season."
Orient were given the chance to move into a fifth minute lead when they were awarded a penalty, but Dean Morgan failed to hit the target from 12 yards.
Peterborough punished the O's two minutes later when they broke away to open the scoring.
However, their lead was only to last until the 20th minute as a Morgan cross-shot was turned in at the far post by trialist Cherno Samba.
Straight from the kick-off, Solomon Shields won possession and fed Paul Terry down the right. His cross picked out Loick Pires, who nodded home to make it 2-1.
Three minutes later, Orient extended their lead when Ryan Jarvis cleverly chipped a free kick over the wall for Terry to control and slot home.
Orient weren't finished there and they added a fourth on 35 - but only after Morgan had missed another penalty.
The on-loan Luton's man spot kick thudded against the post and Shields' follow-up was saved, but Jarvis was on hand to tuck home.
Peterborough came back after the break and reduced the arrears through Scott Rendell.
Sergio Torres converted from the spot to make it 4-3, but Orient held on to take the points back to London.
