Thornton Out For Tranmere Return

Posted on: Fri 06 Feb 2009

SEAN THORNTON will miss out on a return to former club Tranmere Rovers on Saturday as he is still making his way back from a hamstring injury.

The Irish midfielder has been sidelined with the injury since mid-January and he is targeting next weekend's Brisbane Road clash with Crewe Alexandra for a comeback.

Wayne Gray is also out with a knee problem, but new loan signing Jimmy Smith could be in line for a debut after arriving from Chelsea on transfer deadline day.

For Tranmere, Ian Goodison is out, while Chris Greenacre, Craig Curran and Terry Gornell remain sidelined with injury.

Gareth Edds is likely to return to the starting line-up in midfield, with Antony Kay dropping into defence.
