ORIENT saw their totesport.com Combination Eastern Division title chances go up in smoke after falling to a 2-0 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers on Monday night.
The Chairboys scored either side of half time to edge a scrappy contest played at Marlow FC and leave the O's seven points off the top with two games to go.
Chances were limited before the break, although Bradley Gray - playing upfront after Adam Boyd withdrew ill - fired wide inside the first ten minutes.
Jake Argent also had an effort saved by Chairboys stopper James Reading, but it was the home side who forced the breakthrough on the stroke of half time when David Pierce clipped into the middle for Nathan Ashton to finish.
Wycombe didn't have to wait long after the interval to double their advantage, Jordan Lumsdon forcing home seconds after the restart after Glenn Morris saved George Daly's header.
Orient rarely looked like coming back into the contest after falling two behind, and long range efforts from Harry Baker and Argent aside, didn't threaten the home side's defence.
