Defender Chorley Checks In
FORMER Tranmere Rovers defender Ben Chorley has become Orient's second summer signing after the O's beat off competition from eight other clubs to secure the defender on a two-year contract.
The 26-year-old centre back spent the last two seasons with the Prenton Park club, making 89 appearances in all competitions, but has turned down the offer of a new contract with the Merseysiders to link up with the O's.
Sidcup-born Chorley began his career as a trainee with Arsenal, winning the FA Youth Cup in 2001.
He left Highbury without making a first team appearance for the Gunners, joining Wimbledon in the Championship.
The 6'3'' defender stayed with the Dons as they made the move to Milton Keynes, playing 139 games in total before signing for Tranmere in 2007.
Chorley helped Rovers to successive top half finishes in League 1 but jumped at the chance to move back to London and O's boss Geraint Williams is delighted to have secured his signature.
He said: "We're delighted to welcome Ben to Brisbane Road.
"He was an integral part of Tranmere's successful defence last season and he was in demand from a number of clubs this summer so we're really pleased that we've managed to sign him on a two-year contract.
"Ben has a lot of experience at this level and he is sure to be a big player for us."
