ORIENT'S reserves were thrashed 9-2 by Crystal Palace at Brisbane Road on Tuesday afternoon.
Jake Argent gave the O's an early lead, but that was not to prove a sign of things to come as Palace swept four goals ahead by the interval.
The south Londoners added three more goals in the second half to put a young O's side to the sword and trialist Sam Oji was stretchered off to complete a miserable afternoon.
Argent was first on the scoresheet, tapping home Moses Odubajo's cross to edge the home side in front with three minutes on the clock.
But Argent's strike merely produced a furious response from Palace and they were 3-1 up within 15 minutes.
Matthew Wright got in front of O's keeper Jack Giddens to nod home the first of his hat-trick with nine minutes on the clock and, three minutes later, the impressive Kieron Cadogan drilled into the bottom corner.
The onslaught continued with Jack Randall shooting beyond Giddens for Palace's third, and Wright soon added a fourth, but Orient pulled one back on the half hour when Harry Baker found the top corner of Darryl Flahavan's goal from range.
By that time Oji, on trial with the O's 16 months after playing the last of his games for the club, had already departed the action with what looked like a serious leg injury following an awkward fall.
The visitors continued to pepper Orient's goal and Johannes Ertl made it 5-2 on 38 when he was left all alone to meet a left-wing corner.
In first half stoppage time Cadogan slotted home his second of the afternoon and Orient left the field at half time wishing it was the final whistle.
But it was to get worse in the second period, with Wright completing his hat trick with a close range header after 57 minutes.
Five minutes from time a 20-yard shot from Cadogan squirmed under Giddens for Palace's eighth and the rout was finally completed on 87 when Rhys Coleman headed home.
