SEAN THORNTON scored on his return for the O's reserves as they recorded their first victory of the season at Brentford on Monday.
Thornton, who is making his way back from a knee injury, fired the O's in front on 14 minutes and Harry Baker doubled the advantage four minutes later.
The O's named their most experienced reserve side of the season and it showed as the east Londoners saw off their cross-capital rivals.
Lee Butcher had to stand up well at his near post to deny Bees winger Myles Weston in the 13th minute and Orient made the most of the on-loan keeper's save by taking the lead 60 seconds later.
Thornton was the man on target, firing home from 15 yards after the ball popped out to him in a central position.
Five minutes later it was 2-0 with Baker running onto Adrian Patulea's flick on to drill beyond Bees stopper Simon Moore.
Loick Pires nodded over following a Baker cross on 29 minutes as Orient looked for more and the best Brentford could muster in reply before the break was a Steve Kabba shot that whistled wide.
Thornton was withdrawn after a successful 45-minute stint and Brentford almost halved the deficit two minutes after the restart when a Sam Saunders free kick was met with a header which struck the post.
Butcher made a comfortable stop from another Saunders free kick, but Orient were still creating chances to extend the lead and Pires had a shot touched behind by Moore after he was played in by James Scowcroft.
Orient's defence stood firm to keep a well-earned clean sheet and make sure the points would return to east London.
