YEOVIL GAME POSTPONED

Posted on: Mon 04 Jan 2010

SATURDAY'S match against Yeovil Town has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Referee Phil Gibbs postponed the game following a Football League decision for an 8am pitch inspection, and the overnight temperatures had made the pitch unplayable.

He said: "Players' safety is paramount and the pitch had hardened significantly with the frost.

"The south end of the pitch was particularly hard and with no sunlight able to get on that, there was no way it would thaw for the game.

"An early decision had to be made due to the time Yeovil supporters were due to leave and unfortunately this was the only decision that could be made."

A new date for the fixture will now have to be set and news will appear on leytonorient.com once it has been arranged.
