Adams - It's A Great Start

Posted on: Wed 20 Jan 2010

IT WAS a dream debut for Orient's trio of new signings against Yeovil Town on Tuesday night.

Nicky Adams, Matthew Briggs and Jonathan Téhoué all played their part in helping the O's end their six-game wait for victory with that 2-0 success over the Glovers.

For Adams, who arrived on a month's loan from Championship side Leicester City last week, the three point haul was the perfect way to kick off his time in E10, as he explained to leytonorient.com after the final whistle.

"I couldn't have wished for a better start," he beamed. "Right from the off we played some good stuff. It was 2-0 and it could have been more with the chances we created, so we're really pleased with it.

"I think myself, Briggsy and Jon [Téhoué] when he came on did well, but that was the same for the whole team and it was a real team effort.

"It's a great start - a good win and performance. Let's kick on now and we'll go to Charlton looking to get a result there."

23-year-old winger Adams was so nearly on the mark for a debut goal, seeing his 24th minute effort strike Craig Alcock on the line, and he said the move that led to the opportunity showed just what the O's can do.

He continued: "It was great play by Jase, Jarv and then Scotty to put it around the corner for the chance. I've managed to hit the target but unfortunately the man on the line's cleared it.

"Not to worry, as long as the team wins hopefully the goals will come for me too."

Adams is also grateful for the opportunity of first team football in E10 and he revealed that was his main motivation for making the temporary move down from the Walkers Stadium.

He added: "I had a great start to the season at Leicester when I was playing, but unfortunately I've been on the bench for the last couple of months.

"I'm not one of those lads who likes to be sat around, I want to be playing. The gaffer at Leicester didn't want to let me go, but I said I wanted to be playing and as soon as the opportunity arose to come here I couldn't wait to get started."
