SEAN THORNTON was keen to deflect the praise to his teammates after his two-goal blast fired Orient to a memorable victory over Norwich City on Tuesday night.
Irish midfielder Thornton struck twice before the break to take the Londoners to a 2-1 win over title-chasing Norwich and he was quick to praise the contribution of every player in a red shirt.
He felt Orient were worthy of their victory over the Canaries and said the three point-haul would give them a huge boost.
"It was a really brilliant result, a great three points," he said. "Everyone performed on the night and it was well deserved.
"It was good to get the first so early, but then they pressed us for a little bit and scored a good goal.
"We didn't sit back, we kicked on and then we got the second goal. After half time we had a lot of chances to put the game to bed too.
"Fair play to everybody. From back to front everybody perfomed."
The victory came as a huge turnaround from the O's previous home game, which spelled the end for Geraint Williams as manager after a 3-1 defeat to Hartlepool.
Thornton hailed the instant impact of new boss Russell Slade, saying the O's are playing with a new-found confidence.
"Everyone had to pick themselves up after Hartlepool, which was the worst performance we've had this season," he explained.
"It was sad to see Geraint Williams go, he was good to me on and off the pitch, but the new manager's come in and given us all a fresh start.
"It's been proven by the results so far that he's doing a good job. Beforehand the confidence was low in the team, but everyone's got a spring in their step again now.
"We've got to push on for Saturday now, pick up another three points and get ourselves safe as quickly as we can."
