Leyton Orient 4 - 0 Truro City
Joma South West Challenge Cup Preliminary Round
ORIENT booked their place in the semi-finals of the Joma South West Challenge Cup with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Truro City.
The O's were in control from the first whistle to the last, and their dominance was reflected by the scoreline.
Alex Revell, George Porter, Ryan Jarvis and Stephen Dawson all found the target as the Londoners ensured they would keep hold of their 100% pre-season record.
Russell Slade's men stamped their authority on the contest from the off and Revell had the chance to open the scoring on six minutes when Jarvis played him through. The O's striker hesitated when it came to the shot though, and Martin Watts recovered to make a saving tackle.
However, Revell made amends six minutes later when he rose highest in the middle to meet Mike Cestor's inviting left wing cross with a header into the bottom right corner.
Jarvis and Porter both went close before the latter, a summer signing from non league Cray Wanderers, doubled the advantage on the half hour.
It was a lovely goal too, with Jimmy Smith spraying a diagonal ball out to Revell, who chested the ball into Porter's path, and he made the most of the chance by drilling low beyond Truro stopper Martin Rice.
Orient added a third before the interval and Revell, again, was the man on hand to provide the assist. The big striker touched on a square pass from Adam Chambers for Jarvis to fire into the bottom left corner from 16 yards.
The O's were cutting through the Truro backline with far greater ease than they did against Eastleigh and Rice had to make a fine double save to deny Jarvis and Smith four minutes after the interval.
Truro barely made any impression and the only real chance they created came on 69 when Steve Adams' thunderous header from Alex Jeannin's corner flew over the crossbar.
Orient introduced Jonathan Téhoué from the bench with 19 minutes left as the Frenchman made his comeback from injury, and his side added a fourth seven minutes later.
Revell made sure he had a hand in all four goals by making a lung-busting run down the left to supply the cut back for Dawson to find the net from 20 yards, with the help of a deflection.
It was a supremely comfortable victory for the O's and their stay in Devon will now go on for at least another couple of days.
