O's Youngsters Battle To Dartford Draw

Dartford 2 - 2 Leyton Orient
Pre-Season Friendly

ORIENT rounded off their pre-season friendly programme with a 2-2 draw at Blue Square South side Dartford on Tuesday evening.

The O's fielded a young side at Princes Park, with Jonathan Téhoué and trialist James Walker the only seasoned pros on show, but they managed to compete with the physical challenge of their more experienced opponents and came away with a draw.

All the goals came in the second half, and twice Orient edged in front through George Porter and Harry Beautyman, but twice Dartford came back and 2-2 was how it ended.

Téhoué, captaining the O's for his 61-minute run out, had the game's first chance when he latched on to Tom Bonner's poor backpass but couldn't beat keeper Andy Young with his shot.

Porter also drew a save from Young with a snapshot from 20 yards, whilst Dartford's Ryan Hayes had a deflected shot that flew just over the bar, but genuine chances were hard to come by in a tight first half.

After so little action in front of goal before the break, few would have predicted four goals in the space of 21 minutes at the start of the second period, but that was how it worked out, with Porter edging Orient ahead for the first time on 49.

He was first to react to knock home after Téhoué headed Michael Richardson's corner against the underside of the crossbar.

However, the lead was not to last long, as Dartford's Carl Rook scrambled home three minutes later after Orient couldn't get a Bonner cross clear.

Three minutes after that, Orient were back in front as Beautyman's determination took him clear in the right channel and he found the bottom corner with a shot from the edge of the box.

But once again the lead was not to last long as Danny Harris rose high to nod home Ryan Hayes' right wing cross with 66 minutes on the clock.

Dartford's James White was the closest to finding a winner, glancing a Lee Noble corner wide of the mark two minutes from time, but Orient held firm for their draw - and that will go down as a good result for their youngsters.
