ORIENT'S reserves got their totesport.com Combination campaign off to a winning start by beating Aldershot Town 5-3 on Tuesday afternoon.

There were goals aplenty at the Recreation Ground, with the O's holding off the challenge of the League 2 outfit to take the points.

The visitors got off to a great start, with trialist James Walker making it 1-0 early on.

It was just reward for a lively opening, but Aldershot soon turned the game on its head by netting through Damian Spencer and Reece Connolly to go 2-1 up.

The first half scoring wasn't finished there, and Walker, who enjoyed a spell on loan in E10 from Charlton in the 2006/07 campaign, quickly equalised for the visitors.

Goalscoring chances continued to flow for the O's and they scored through Adrian Patulea and David Hutton, another trialist, to take a 4-2 advantage into half time.

The second 45 minutes didn't quite live up to the standards of the opening period, and Aldershot gave themselves a sniff when Henrik Breimyr headed home to cut the deficit to one.

But Orient made absolutely sure of the points with Patulea netting his second of the afternoon to wrap up a 5-3 success.

O's assistant manager Kevin Nugent said: "We played very well in the first half, and although we were 2-1 down at one stage, we quickly turned that around.

"There were plenty of chances, and although the second half wasn't quite as good, I was pleased with the performance and result."

Orient: Lee Butcher; Mathias Agbeto (Alan Mabuyaku 60), Josh Millwood, Aaron Brown, Mike Cestor; David Hutton, George Porter (Moses Odubajo 89), Harry Beautyman, David Cowley; Adrian Patulea, James Walker
