MICHAEL LIDDLE has returned to Sunderland following the end of his first month on loan with the O's.

The 20-year-old left back linked up with Russell Slade's squad on the eve of the new season and started in the opening day defeat at Yeovil Town.

But the Irish under-21 international picked up a groin injury in the Huish Park clash and failed to figure in the first team again.

The Londoner has made one senior appearance for the Black Cats and also has League experience from a loan spell at Carlisle United in the 2008/09 season.
