Cox Pens New Long-Term Deal

Posted on: Sat 28 Jan 2012

DEAN COX has committed his long-term future to the club, putting pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year contract extension.

The winger's deal was due to expire this summer, but his new contract takes him up until the end of the 2014/15 season.

Cox, 24, arrived in E10 ahead of the 2010/11 campaign after leaving first club Brighton & Hove Albion and was an instant success with his new club.

Working under Russell Slade, who also managed him at the Withdean Stadium, Cox found top form in his first season with the O's, scoring 12 goals and setting up 22 more as the Londoners came within a point of making the League 1 play-offs.

He has backed that up with a further seven goals from left midfield this season and has recently returned from a knee injury to retake his place in the side.

Slade said: "We're obviously delighted that Dean has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with the club.

"It's a terrific signing - he's scored 19 goals and made 30 assists in just a season-and-a-half with us and that outlines what a positive contribution he has made.

"It was important to keep him at the club and we're delighted that we can continue to build with him as a part of it."
