O's Move Joint Top After Victory Over Rangers
IAN CULVERHOUSE'S one-match stint as youth team manager ended in success as the O's moved joint top of the Youth Alliance South-East Conference with a victory over QPR.
Rangers travelled across London with a three point advantage over Orient, but the 2-0 win for Culverhouse's temporary charges put them level on 14 points, although QPR have a superior goal difference.
Orient had a perfect start with a penalty in the first minute of the game when Efe Echanomi was brought down in the box straight from the kick-off and Daniel Glozier (pictured) converted from the spot.
Orient doubled their advantage around the hour mark when Tom Ziepe fed the ball through to Prince Toku on the left and he slid it past the QPR goalkeeper.
"It was quite an even game, but we passed the ball around well and that was nice to see, Culverhouse said.
"QPR were unbeaten but they couldn't cope with our passing and we battled hard physically as well.
"Paul Jones was very dominant with what he had to do and our back four was very strong.
"We hit them on the break and could have had a couple more goals, but all in all it was an excellent game.
"I enjoyed taking the kids again but I know the manager's keen to get someone in quickly so with a fortnight until our next game, it'll probably be a one-off."
Orient (4-4-2): Paul Jones; Greg Tiffin, Joe O'Cearuill, Daniel Glozier, Aidan Palmer; Scott Wallis, Tommy Laxton, Tom Ziepe, Derek Duncan; Prince Toku, Efe Echanomi.
