Kids Extend Lead At Top Of Table

ORIENT'S youth team extended their lead at the top of the South-East Conference with a 2-0 victory against Brighton on Saturday.
Having lost 3-0 on the Seagulls' home patch earlier in the season, the result was sweet revenge for the young O's, again managed by Youth Development Officer Gary Karsa on a caretaker basis.
Brian Saah, playing for the youth team for the first time in a long while after his stint as a sub for the senior side came to an end, opened the scoring in the second minute and Prince Toku added the second midway through the first-half.
Saah slotted home to give the O's the perfect start after a ball in to the box wasn't cleared properly and fell to the midfielder on the edge of the area.
And Toku took advantage of a slack clearance by the Albion goalkeeper to curl home from 20 yards after 26 minutes.
"The boys were really up for the game because of the earlier result and that was reflected in their performance, Karsa said.
"It was a bit scrappy at first with both teams battling to keep possession but we worked hard and had some good passages of play.
"Brighton got frustrated and Paul Jones made a couple of good saves to keep our clean sheet but it was a deserved win.
"It did undoubtedly help having Brian Saah and Derek Duncan back from the first team - they're two very good, mature players who make the right decisions and showed their ability.
"And because they're top of the league and the first team are doing so well too there's a real confidence amongst the boys who have a great camaraderie and self-belief within themselves at the moment"
