22-year-old goalkeeper Lee Butcher joined Orient on a one-year contract in the summer of 2010. The former Tottenham goalkeeper spent three years as a pro with the White Hart Lane club prior to his move to the O's and offered back-up for Jamie Jones last term, stepping in to play 12 matches when the first choice was injured, leading to a new two-year deal this summer. After coming through the Academy ranks at Arsenal, Butcher turned professional at Spurs. He made his first appearance at League level as a sub for Jamie Jones in the O's 1-1 draw at Oldham in October 2010, and he also has plenty of experience from loans at non-league clubs to his name, having turned out for the likes of AFC Wimbledon, Margate and St Albans City - where O's youth team manager Andy Edwards was assistant boss at the time. He has also played eight games at Blue Square Premier level for Grays Athletic and enjoyed a spell on loan with the O's in 2009/10, acting as cover for Glenn Morris. following an injury to Jones.
