Puma Youth Alliance Cup Group Two

ADAM BOLLE scored a late winner to give Orient's youth team a 2-1 victory over Southend United in their opening Youth Alliance Cup match.

Bolle struck with three minutes left to settle a tight local derby with Southend United and help Kevin Nugent's side overcome the loss of Brandon Martin to a second half red card.

Nugent said: "We showed real character to claim the result againt a decent Southend side.

"It was a good performance from the lads in a real derby game and it means we've got off to an excellent start in this competition."

Set pieces looked to be the most likely route to goal early on, and it was from a Harry Baker delivery that under-16 centre-half Elliot Babb gave Orient a second half lead.

However, Orient were dealt a blow 15 minutes from time when Brandon Martin gave away a penalty and was sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity when he held back Tashan Adeyinka.

Rhys Henry slotted away the penalty, and it almost got worse shortly afterwards but Michael Doyle produced a fantastic save to deny Ricky Byrne.

Orient made full use of Doyle's save by going up the other end and claiming all three points when Bolle found the back of the net for his first of the season.

Orient: Michael Doyle; Brandon Martin, Frankie Webb, Elliot Babb, Matthew Hall; Harry Baker, Scott Grange (Jack Page 60), Solomon Shields, Loick Pires; Adam Marsh (Henry Atu 60), Adam Bolle
