Leyton Orient 3 - 3 Wycombe Wanderers

WAYNE BURNETT'S first game as O's youth team manager ended in a 3-3 draw with Wycombe Wanderers as a young Orient side saw a two-goal lead slip late on.

With an eye on Monday's League Cup quarter final clash with Bristol Rovers, the O's named six schoolboys in their starting line-up and Burnett was pleased with how they stood up to the test.

He said: "Of course the boys are disappointed to have drawn after leading 3-1 towards the end, but you have to look at the bigger picture and say they've done very well.

"We had a young side out there, but they've more than competed against players two years older than them - and that makes a massive difference at their age.

"It's a big learning curve for them and I was pleased with their attitude and application."

Orient started well and took the lead through one of the first year scholars in their side, Louis Crowther.

Wycombe, whose FA Youth Cup hopes were ended by the O's earlier this season, saw home stopper Daniel Bygrave save a penalty before they eventually forced an equaliser.

But the O's hit back and established a 3-1 advantage thanks to Jake Argent and schoolboy Falola Fahinty.

The game was entering its closing stages, but Orient's young side tired and Wycombe scored twice in the last ten minutes to grab a draw.
