Queens Park Rangers 2 - 1 Leyton Orient
Puma Youth Alliance Cup Southern Section Semi-Final
ORIENT'S Puma Youth Alliance Cup campaign was ended at the area semi-final stage by Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
The O's controlled large parts of the contest and deserved more, but will now have to concentrate on their league campaign after bowing out of the cup competition.
O's youth team manager Wayne Burnett said: "I'm proud of my players because they gave a very good performance but were not rewarded with what they deserved.
"We had 14 attempts on goal to QPRs three and were very unfortunate to go out."
Orient looked to start well on a difficult pitch, but it was the home side who took the lead from their first real attack of the game.
The visitors responded strongly and levelled midway through the half when the ball was played back into the box following a set play, and Pat O'Donnell controlled, swivelled and fired into the roof of the net.
The O's continued to put the Rangers goal under pressure, but the hosts scored a second on the counter after the break and Burnett's side could not find an equaliser.
Orient: Jack Giddens; Brandon Martin, Josh Millwood, Patrick O'Donnell, Elliott Babbs (Ryan Nelson (Adam Bolle)); Harry Baker, Daryl Sydes, Harry Beautyman, Musa Manneh; Jake Argent, Adam Marsh
