JAKE ARGENT'S extra-time winner gave Orient's youngsters the key to the FA Youth Cup third round at Swindon Town on Wednesday night.

Andy Edwards' side fought back from going a goal down to overcome the challenge of the Robins and will now face Milton Keynes Dons in round three.

Swindon striker Seb Broomfield fired the hosts into a 22nd minutes lead, but Orient were level within three minutes, Harry Beautyman curling a free kick into the top corner.

Chances were few and far between in the second half and the extra 30 minutes were needed to settle the tie, and it was Orient's Argent who profited from a mix up in the home defence to send the Londoners through.

The home side started strongly and Broomfield had the ball in the net on seven minutes, but his goal was ruled out for offside.

Six minutes later Swindon should really have taken the lead when both Broomfield and Jordan Record had shots blocked in a goalmouth scramble.

Swindon's pressure eventually paid off on 22 when Broomfield collected a flick-on from Record and sized up his options from outside the area before finding the bottom corner from 20 yards.

Orient's response was immediate with Beautyman sending an excellent free kick beyond the grasp of Robins' stopper Callum Antell and into the top corner.

The visitors had grown into the contest and Argent tried to catch out Antell in the 28th minute but his clipped effort drifted wide.

A minute later O's stopper Jack Giddens saved well from Matty Barnes and chances were coming at both ends.

Louis Crowther shot wide and Cestor Mike had a header saved by Antell as Orient ended the first half strongly, but the scores were still level at the break.

The second half was a far more cagey affair, but Swindon created the better of the few chances and Record sent a shot wide on the hour.

Giddens then made smart saves from Mark Hartmann and Record within a minute, but Orient's defence - marshalled by the excellent Elliott Babbs - held firm and deserved to take the game to extra time.

And Argent made sure of Orient's progression to the third round when Swindon failed to deal with a throw in from the right and the ball dropped for Argent to lash home from 15 yards.

Broomfield poked wide as Swindon looked for an instant leveller, but Orient had done enough to secure their place in round three.
