Leyton Orient U18 2 - 0 Colchester United U18
Football League Youth Alliance South East Conference
ORIENT'S youth team recorded back-to-back victories for this first time this season when goals from Elliott Babbs and Harry Beautyman fired them to victory over Colchester United.
The O's had drawn six of their seven league fixtures going into this Newbury Park meeting with the O's, but they registered that elusive success with a strong performance.
Youth team manager Andy Edwards said: "The conditions were difficult and the pitch wasn't conducive to good football, but we looked to play and it was a good team display.
"We were better in both boxes than we have been at times this season and it showed in the result.
"We defended very well and it was pleasing to get the win."
Orient started well and almost took an early lead when some excellent wingplay from Musa Manneh resulted in a cross that eluded everyone in the middle.
With 22 minutes on the clock the Londoners did edge in front when a free kick wasn't cleared by the U's defence and centre back Babbs produced an excellent overhead kick to beat the visitors' keeper.
13 minutes later Orient doubled their advantage when more good work from Manneh created an opening for another cross and this time Beautyman got on the end of it to finish in some style.
Jack Giddens was rarely troubled in the home goal as Orient closed out the match and ended their wait for a three-point haul.
