Leyton Orient U18 5 - 2 Luton Town U18
Football League Youth Alliance South East Conference
ORIENT'S youth team continued their hot streak of form with a convincing 5-2 win over Luton Town on Saturday.
The victory was the O's fifth in succession and featured a four-goal haul from Jake Argent, taking his youth team tally to the season to 18 from 23 games.
It was an entertaining start to the contest with chances for both teams, but it was Orient who edged in front in the fifth minute when Argent scored with a neat finish.
The home side continued to live dangerously early on, with Luton Town missing two opportunities, and Orient made the most of their let-off by doubling their lead on 14 minutes.
Argent was again on target, showing great composure to slot past the advancing goalkeeper.
Luton quickly pulled one back, but Orient re-established their two-goal advantage seven minutes before the break when Josh Millwood met Harry Beautyman's corner with a powerful header.
The Hatters were clinging on to Orient's coat tails though and they again moved to within one goal of the hosts, scoring from a corner to make it 3-2 at the break.
After a few choice words from youth team boss Andy Edwards at the break, Orient showed greater professionalism in the second half and dominated from start to finish.
Argent completed his hat trick six minutes after the restart, and then set the seal on a remarkable game with his fourth - and Orient's fifth - eight minutes from time.
The margin of victory could have been even greater with Argent, Beautyman and Chris Benjamin all going close, while O's keeper Jack Giddens was rarely tested at the other end.
