Millwall started well and caught Orient on the back foot with their fast tempo at the start of the game.
They took the lead in the third minute and pressed for more, but Orient then started to grab a foothold in the contest and were so close to levelling when Elliott Babbs had a shot blocked following a corner, and Jake Argent's follow-up was cleared off the line.
Orient upped the pressure at the start of the second period and Louis Crowther twice went close, hittng the inside of the post with one effort and then forcing a good stop from the home keeper.
Some good individual skill from Moses Odubajo created a chance for the visitors only for the Millwall stopper to pull off a fine save and that marked Orient's final chance to get back to level terms.
15 minutes from time Millwall confirmed victory with a freak goal as their full back found the net with a header from 35 yards.
