Luton Town U18 0 - 3 Leyton Orient U18
FL Youth Alliance Cup Southern Section Round Two
ORIENT'S youth team progressed to the third round of the Youth Alliance Cup with a 3-0 victory over Luton Town last Saturday.
Centre backs Jack Dekanski and Greg Knock were both on the scoresheet as Orient comfortably secured their spot in the last eight of the southern section.
Andy Edwards' men took a 20th minute lead through Knock, who was only making his second start in an injury-disrupted 12 months. He did well to get on the end of an excellent set piece delivery from Harry Lee and give the Luton keeper no chance.
Orient proceeded to remain on the front foot, putting the Luton backline under pressure. They were rewarded on the half hour when Kaine Sheppard picked up possession on the right hand side, dropped his shoulder to beat his man, and found the bottom left corner from 20 yards.
Luton had a little spell in the ascendancy as they looked for a response, but aside from a shot that struck a post, Orient were safe in their lead.
And they made absolutely sure of their spot in round three after the break when Lee delivered another fine set play for Dekanski to thunder a header home.
Orient: Yilmaz Aksoy; De'Reece Vanderhyde (Harrison Georgiou 65), Jack Dekanski, Greg Knock, Joe O'Donoghue; Sam Konway, Michael Richardson, Harry Lee; Kaine Sheppard, Affy Obafemi (Joe Foley 60), Elyon Egbeku (Anthony Okadigbo 60)
