Scottish midfielder Liam Kelly became the O’s seventh summer signing ahead of the 2016-17 campaign when he arrived from Oldham Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

The former Latics’ captain put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal with the O’s, and was subsequently named vice-captain by manager Andy Hessenthaler in July 2016.

Kelly, who made his international debut for Scotland in 2012 whilst at Kilmarnock, moved to England in January 2013 when he signed for Bristol City. The midfielder’s time at the Robins was disrupted by injury however, with Kelly suffering a cruciate ligament injury six months after his arrival.

Having made a full recovery, Oldham then swooped for the Scotsman in June 2014, where he went on to make a total of 87 appearances and be named the Latics’ Player of the Year for 2015-16.
