Centre half Tom Parkes was another player to arrive in E10 during the summer of 2016, penning a two-year deal with Leyton Orient after turning down a new contract at Bristol Rovers.

Parkes, who started his career at Leicester City, struggled to make the breakthrough at the Foxes leading to several loan spells at the likes of Burton Albion, Yeovil Town and Bristol Rovers before making a permanent switch to the Memorial Stadium in 2012.

Despite being unable to help the Gas avoid relegation from League Two in 2014, Parkes played an integral role as Darrell Clarke’s secured promotion back to the Football League at the first time of asking with a play-off victory over Grimsby Town having finished second in the league.

During the 2014-15 season Parkes also achieved national recognition for his performances, making two appearances for the England ‘C’ side before enjoying another promotion the following year as he helped the Gas achieve automatic promotion from League Two on the final day of the 2015-16 season.
