Shorter Trips For O's Fans This Term

ORIENT’S fans can look forward to spending less time on the road to watch their team this season as the promotion of the likes of Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday will see them travel 182 less miles in npower League 1 this campaign.

The long distance away days at the Owls and the Terriers, as well as at relegated clubs Rochdale and Exeter have been replaced with more local trips to Swindon, Crawley, Coventry and Portsmouth.

In total, Orient fans will have to travel 3,513 miles to reach their away games next term, meaning anyone making their way to all 23 League games will cover a mammoth 7,026 miles.

That is down from 7,390 last season, which represented the highest amount of miles covered since Orient’s return to the third tier in 2006/07.

Orient’s shortest trips are to London rivals Brentford, at 16 miles, and Stevenage, which is 44 miles away.

The longest journey is to Carlisle United in the north west, which is a marathon 322 mile trek.

Five of Orient’s League 1 opponents are based within 70 miles of Brisbane Road, so there remain plenty of local derbies to look forward to.
