Dartford 1 – 0 Leyton Orient
A SOLITARY goal from Danny Harris was enough to give Dartford a 1-0 win over the O’s at Princes Park on Saturday.
Midfielder Harris struck two minutes before the interval to settle a slow-paced game that was low on chances.
In fact, Harris’ strike was the only shot on target in an opening period which struggled to get going.
Orient’s best moments came down the left when Gary Sawyer and Dean Cox were allowed to get crosses in and Jimmy Smith drifted in from the right, but a goal was not forthcoming.
The hosts’ moment came on the stroke of half time when Harris carried the ball inside from his left flank and drilled a shot into the bottom right hand corner of Jamie Jones’ net.
Orient improved after the interval and Kevin Lisbie was denied by home stopper Louis Wells after latching onto a Michael Symes pass four minutes into the second period.
David Mooney also drew a smart stop with a shot on the turn, while Dean Cox’s sidefooter was blocked by a diving Wells, but Orient couldn’t find a way through.
O’s boss Russell Slade will instead focus on the fitness gained by his team, which included a number of 90 minute run outs for the first time.
