SATURDAY’S match against Hartlepool United has been postponed.
An accident on the A406 caused severe traffic delays on both that road and the M11 and prevented Hartlepool’s team coach from arriving at the ground.
With the coach still stuck in traffic at 3.20pm, referee Brendan Malone decided to call the game off with no prospect of the away team’s arrival in the near future.
Malone said: “Hartlepool had been stuck where they were from around 1pm, and with the advice from the Police saying they weren’t going to move for two to three hours, we had no choice.
“We’re governed by the information coming from the Police in this situation and a decision had to be made from that.”
