SUPER sub Ryan Brunt was thrilled to net his first goal in O’s colours and help the east Londoners to victory over Brentford on Thursday.
Brunt struck with 15 minutes left to settle a tight derby in Orient’s favour and propel them up to 16th in the npower League 1 table.
The 19-year-old joined Orient on loan from Stoke City in the summer and is hoping his first goal will open the floodgates for many more.
He said: “It was brilliant to get a second win on the bounce and a great feeling to score my first goal for the club.
“I chested the ball down, it fell through a few bodies and then I hit it with my left foot. It’s always nice to get a left footed goal as well!
“It was nice to get on the pitch for half an hour too and show what I can do, so hopefully I can push on from here now.”
Brunt has had to settle for substitute appearances since his move south from Stoke, so was pleased to make his mark after coming on with half an hour to play against the Bees.
He continued: “I felt like I settled into the game quite quickly and scoring the goal was brilliant for me.
“I think I’ve done pretty well when I’ve come on so hopefully I’ve given the gaffer some food for thought now.
“I think the new players are gelling together now and it’s coming good.
“The 1-0s where we were losing we’re now turning into wins so that’s really good.
“The back four have really performed as a unit, especially in the last two games, and that’s a good platform to have. It’s brilliant to keep two clean sheets in a row.”
